Luxury Resorts: Terranea, a 102-acre luxury resort situated along the California coastline in Palos Verdes, just south of Los Angeles has announced that Chef Christian Schmidt will be overseeing the kitchen at the newly built resort.
The 582-room resort has an emphasis on being eco-friendly which will be reflected in the restaurant's organic and locally based cuisine.
Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Terreanea, Terri A. Haack, says, "Chef Schmidt is that rare culinary professional who combines impressive experience ranging from intimate bistros to large-scale banqueting, with an ongoing passion for expanding his already-considerable managerial and culinary expertise."
The Terranea Resort features 582 rooms as well as ocean front bungalows and villas. Unique features of the property include a large spa, 3 swimming pools, a golf course, a children's play area and center, and a 140 foot water slide. The three restaurants on the grounds offer amazing views of the nearby Pacific Ocean and surrounding bluffs.
Chef Schmidt has an impressive and award-winning resume that fits in with Terreanea's elegant setting and emphasis on luxury. In the past, Schmidt has worked with luxury hotel brands including Ritz Carlton, Mandarin Oriental and Fairmont hotels to create restaurants from design through menus.
As the co-author of a popular cookbook, Viva La Mediterranean and for his creativity, Chef Schmidt has appeared in culinary magazines including Food & Wine, Gourmet, and Condé Nast Traveler.
For more than 25 years, Chef Schmidt has been creating modern cuisine with an emphasis on organic ingredients. His new venture at Terreanea is sure to be no different, offering luxury foodstuffs in luxurious accommodations with outstanding views.
