If you have an aspiring chef on your hands, then make your next family trip a vacation to the Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, Fiji. As part of the resort's Bula Club, children can take part in the Chef’s Junior Assistant program. The program includes a 45-minute lesson with the resort's chef and a Bula Club rep on planning a meal from start to finish, including prepping, plating and serving.
Children that sign up for the program ahead of time will be able to suggest a meal for the day and their suggestion may be used. The Junior Assistants get outfitted like professionals, complete with a chef's jacket and hat. They also get a lesson on food safety and hygiene as well as a tour of the organic garden and the opportunity to assist with picking herbs and garnishes for that day's use. The participants will then get to help prep and serve meals to the Bula Club. Designed for children ages 6-12, participants will get a taste of the culinary life while mom and dad get to explore the Fijian resort.
