Historic Hotels of America has officially designated the American Queen Steamboat as its first Special Legacy Member. The steamboat played an important role in American history and carries on the legacy as America's only remaining overnight passenger steamboat. The American Queen was designed over a period of two years and done with extensive research to remain true to her 19th century ancestry, including her steam engines which have been salvaged from a sunken 1932 steamboat.
"We are delighted to welcome the American Queen in partnership with Historic Hotels of America," says Lawrence Horwitz, executive director of Historic Hotels Worldwide. "The American Queen represents the important impact that steamboats had on America's history. Travelers can enjoy luxury, culture and learn a great deal about American history while aboard this magnificent vessel."
