Three major renovation projects were recently completed on the island by luxury hotels and resorts. Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island completed a $65-million, 444 room enhancement project that involved the design expertise of Wilson Associates to add a coastal design to the room enhancements. Sliders Seaside Grill announced the completion of its second-floor renovation along with the opening of a new oceanfront banquet and special-event space. The area can accommodate 200 people for a formal sit-down affair, and 300 guests for a cocktail event. The Amelia Island Williams House recently completed renovations in its Smuggler’s Cove Room with a complete refurbishing, which includes bath space. Additionally, the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort broke ground last November on an $85-million redevelopment that includes 155 additional guestrooms, a newly expanded Beach Club and pool area, and an expanded 70,000-square-foot conference center. Twenty-seven suites are included in the new guestrooms of the resort.
