The iconic Palm Pavilion Inn and Restaurant, a Clearwater Beach institution, is proudly celebrating its 85th year this summer. One of the island's first businesses, the Palm Pavilion started out as a beach pavilion in 1926 and has since adapted and grown with the city it calls home into a well-loved beachside restaurant
In its former life, the Palm Pavilion was a true beach pavilion, a place for the modest people of the day to change out of their street clothes and into swimwear, as wearing a bathing suit anyplace but the beach was simply unacceptable. The current owners, the Hamilton Family, have operated the Palm Pavilion since 1964, when Howard and Jean Hamilton bought the property. Today, the second generation of Hamiltons runs the Pavilion, keeping the family tradition alive. "One of the rewards of this 85-year-old establishment is watching generations of travelers grow up and return with their children and grandchildren. We've had guests from newborns to age 100 in the same family that have been coming here for decades," said Ken Hamilton. "It brings back a lot of good memories for people and they want to share that experience."
Set on Clearwater's sugar white sand and overlooking the tranquil Gulf waves, the Palm Pavilion Beachside Grill and Bar offers live entertainment most days and delicious casual fare, including the freshest seafood as well as all-American hot dogs and hamburgers. The adjacent Palm Pavilion Inn boasts a beachfront location and welcomes guests with a warm, individualized touch. Guests at the art deco styled Palm Pavilion Inn enjoy comfortable accommodations, an inviting sundeck, and a heated swimming pool— all just steps from the sand.
The City of Clearwater is a year-round beach destination on Florida's acclaimed Gulf coast and is consistently hailed as one of the top beaches in the US. Clearwater offers extensive outdoor activities both on land and at sea, as well as being home to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Winter the dolphin. Winter is set to star alongside Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd in the upcoming Dolphin Tale, a movie about her inspiring, true story of survival after overcoming the loss of her tail. The city is made especially pedestrian-friendly with the recent addition of the beautiful Beach Walk promenade, providing the perfect path to Pier 60 for the nightly sunset festivals of music and art.
