Luxury Clubs: Playboy Enterprises opened the Playboy Club Cancun last week with an invitation-only VIP party for Playboy Club members. The red-carpet event marked the opening of the third Playboy Club. Playboy Club Cancun is the third club in the second rising of the Playboy Club. There is a Playboy Club Las Vegas at The Palms Casino Resort, and the Playboy Club Macao in China.
In a licensing agreement, Playboy Club Cancun will be owned and operated by Entretenimiento De Mexico S.A. De C.V. The company is a leading Mexican casino company that operates and licenses over 18 gaming venues throughout the country.
"I am pleased to bring the Playboy Club to Mexico for the first time and to combine the sexy sophistication of the Playboy brand with the international allure of Cancun," said Hugh Hefner, founder and chief creative officer a Playboy Enterprises, Inc. "With the opening of Playboy Club Cancun and the arrival of the Playboy Bunnies, nightlife there will never be the same!"
The design of the 12,000-square-foot property is reminiscent of the original Chicago Playboy Club, which opened in 1960. Playboy Club Cancun will feature the iconic Playboy Bunnies, working as hostesses, cocktail servers, and Bunny dealers. The internationally diverse Bunnies hail from Argentina, Cuba, Canada, Russia, and Mexico.
The Playboy Club sold approximately 2.5 million private membership keys, making it one of the most successful nightclub chains in history. The Playboy Club had 40 properties in 25 states and seven countries. Playboy Enterprises owned and operated the clubs until 1991.
There are plans to add properties in Miami and London.
