Hotel Overview
The James, synonymous with the seamless blend of modern, residentially styled, state-of-the-art technology and guest-centric service found at its Chicago location, will bring those same attributes to its new property in New York City. The James New York, a newly built hotel anchoring the southwest corner of SoHo at Grand and Thompson Streets, will open September 1, 2010 with 114 guestrooms and suites bathed in natural light and unobstructed views of Manhattan. The property acts as a beacon, illustrating the juncture between the artistry of SoHo and the industrial qualities of Tribeca.
Accommodations
The James features 114 Guest Rooms, which include spacious corner rooms with wrap-around views, four one-bedroom suites and one 1300 sq.-ft. Penthouse Loft, located on the 16th floor. Each room includes custom-designed furnishings and thoughtful, guest-centric and environmentally-conscious touches, such as reclaimed wood floors and furnishings; an eco-friendly pillow selection by Keetsa; and rugs made from all-natural fibers. No detail has been overlooked, with mindfully planned features, high ceilings, windows that open outward (a rarity among New York City hotels), easily-accessible electrical outlets; reading lights embedded in the headboard; and spacious guest bathrooms, complete with huge standing showers and separated from the living area by a floor-to-ceiling glass wall which features a remote-controlled "peek-a-boo screen". The screen, created by Dutch designer Nienke Sybrandy features a signature print of shadows of a tree, comprised of computer code, which speaks to the divide between nature and technology.
Fitness Center
The James features a fully equipped fitness center which is open to guests twenty-four hours a day. The fitness center is located on the 17th floor, looks out over stunning views of Manhattan and features state-of-the-art Life Fitness® cardio equipment.
Meetings & Events
The James New York, rich with open spaces and bathed in natural light, offers a welcome respite from typical New York City meeting and event space. Our modern indoor/outdoor space combines open, refreshing design features with the latest technology, including state-of-the-art video conferencing and complimentary Wi-Fi.
