From Exit 18 off the N.Y.S. Thruway, Mohonk is six miles west of New Paltz. Mohonk's 2,200-acre National Historic Landmark property with beautifully landscaped grounds and 128 summerhouses (gazebos) adjoins the 6,400-acre Mohonk Preserve. Hotel Overview Mohonk Mountain House stands at the heart of a magnificent 26,000-acre natural area in the Shawangunk Mountains, which is comprised of the resort property, private preserves, and a state park preserve. Tucked away near the top of the Shawangunk Ridge is Lake Mohonk, a half-mile long, 60-foot deep, freshwater lake where a sprawling Victorian castle stands guard. This is one of the last great 19th-century mountain resorts. RECREATION Overnight guests enjoy tennis, golf, lake swimming, boating and fishing, the comprehensive fitness center, indoor heated pool, and The Spa at Mohonk Mountain House, horseback riding, carriage rides, approximately 85 miles of hiking, walking and running trails, platform tennis, a putting green, and game rooms. In the winter, weather permitting, there is 35 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails, and snowshoeing. The Victorian Pavilion provides ice-skating from November through March. With the exception of horseback riding, carriage rides, weekend golf, and Spa services, recreation is complimentary to overnight guests. THEME PROGRAMS For over 100 years, Mohonk has been offering special programs designed to enlighten and entertain, with themes ranging from music to meditation to mystery. A complete listing of all programs, along with brief descriptions, is also available. CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS The Mohonk Kids' Club, for children ages 2-12, is available mid-June through Labor Day. A modified program is available most weekends and holidays year-round, complimentary to overnight guests. A program for teens is also available. ALSO ON THE PROPERTY Mountain Lake Conference House, formal gardens, Victorian maze, greenhouses, Barn Museum, stables, two gift shops, old-fashioned ice-cream parlor and soda fountain, and a library. Picnic Lodge is the day visitor center, and Sky Top Tower, a memorial to founder Albert Smiley, offers views of the surrounding states. ROOMS There are 265 guest rooms, many with balconies and fireplaces, featuring Victorian, Edwardian, and Craftsman decor. Televisions are located in public rooms only. Pets are not allowed in rooms nor on the property. Smoking is not permitted in guest rooms nor anywhere else in the Mountain House. Overnight guests enjoy breakfast, lunch, Sunday brunch, and dinner, along with afternoon tea and cookies included in their rates. There are three dining rooms available yearround and two outdoor dining facilities open seasonally. Alcoholic beverages may be purchased at lunch and dinner, and the Carriage Lounge is open in the evenings. Alcoholic beverages are available for private consumption and private hospitalities. Reservations are required for the evening meal for overnight guests. Reservations for day meal guests are required in advance for all meals. CONFERENCE FACILITIES The Mountain Lake Conference House, the separate meeting facility for groups, offers a complete range of break-out rooms and services. For groups of up to 350 people, the experienced staff of professionals coordinates each meeting to ensure prompt attention to every detail. The sense of abundant history that permeates the mountaintop provides meeting attendees with a sense of purpose, as well as the opportunity for inspiration and insight. Mohonk also offers professionally-managed low and high ropes team-building courses, and a wide variety of other team-building options. MOHONK'S SPA WING The 30,000-square-foot wing houses a comprehensive fitness center, an indoor heated swimming pool, and The Spa at Mohonk Mountain House. The Spa features 16 treatment rooms, a solarium and verandas for lounging, steam rooms and saunas, a stone fireplace, and an outdoor heated mineral pool. Treatments range from massages to facials to hair care, manicures, pedicures, and more. RATES Mohonk's Full American Plan includes three meals, plus afternoon tea and cookies.
