Location
The hotel is located on the cliffs, two and a half miles west of Negril town on Negril's West End Road. The hotel is sited on the western most point of Jamaica - the best spot for sunsets. The closest major international airport is Montego Bay, just over an hour away.

Hotel Overview

Rockhouse is a boutique hotel stretching across the cliffs of Pristine Cove in Negril. The resort, nestled amongst eight acres of tropical lush gardens, boasts a 60-foot cliff-top horizon pool and an award winning restaurant set on a balcony suspended directly over the water.

Accommodations
Rockhouse has thirty-four air-conditioned rooms providing all the comforts of a boutique hotel in a natural Jamaican environment. Eight Premium Villas, twelve Villas, five Studios and nine Standard rooms are built from timber, stone and thatch and designed to exist in harmony with the jungle-like garden and volcanic rock of the Hotel's eight acres. All rooms have a private balcony or terrace with lounging furniture.

Room furniture includes a four post queen size bed with mosquito netting, bed side tables, desk/dresser with stool, and a two-seated table with chairs for in-room dining. This is a new furniture line specifically designed for Rockhouse and built from dressed and polished local timbers. Amenities include a room safe, a fully stocked mini bar, telephones with overseas direct dialing, luggage rack, overhead or oscillating stand fan. The pressurized water system with master tank storage, and power provision from the back-up generators ensure continuous service. Environmentally conscious, solar hot water is heated throughout the property, with local hot water tank backup for those very rare cloudy days, or unusually high consumption.

All the Villas are individual, cliff-top, thatched-roof cottages situated directly over the water. They feature spacious, wrap around, private terraces and sliding glass doors providing sublime vistas of Pristine Cove. All have queen-size beds; four of the villas feature loft beds. The loft Villas, in addition to the queen bed downstairs, have a double bed and a twin bed upstairs and can accommodate up to four people. Each of the Villas has CD players and private, enclosed, outdoor showers open to the skies. The Premium Villas are newly constructed, and oversized with westward, sunset-facing views from their cliff edge.

Dining
Jamaican cuisine is a complex mix of all the cultures that have come to her shores. The native Arawak Amerindians, the Chinese, the Spanish, the English and the Indians all brought their own culinary staples and cooking techniques when they settled on the island. Even the Rastafarians, upholding the ideals of vegetarianism, have placed new emphasis on natural foods. Drawing from these diverse roots, the Rockhouse Restaurant creates "new Jamaican cuisine", a lighter, modern interpretation of classic Jamaican cooking designed to enhance your island experience, yet remain accessible to those not familiar with Caribbean food.

The Hotel's award winning Jamaican executive chef, Kevin Broderick, worked with Fabian Ippoliti, Managing Director and co-owner of the Rockhouse, to develop the restaurant's menu. The Rockhouse Menu honors the tradition of Jamaican cuisine, with humble but tasty coconut toast, ackee and salt fish, and jerk chicken spiced with a scotch bonnet sauce. However, the best dishes are constructed from a fusion of different origins, creating mixtures of tanginess, hot pepper, rich sauces, the flavorful spice of curries, and the cool sweetness of tropical fruits. Signature dishes include Lobster Blaze, Crab Turnover and Blackened Mahi Mahi served with mango chutney. Aspiring to give even long-term guests a rich epicurean experience, the substantial menu is supplemented by a rotating specials board. Meals are complemented by a solid international Wine List, island inspired cocktails and Jamaica's famous Blue Mountain coffee.

The Rockhouse Restaurant and Bar is also designed to live in harmony with the natural environment. The thatched-roof, airy bar tiers down to an outdoor balcony suspended directly over Pristine Cove where the service is attentive and respectful. With reggae playing in the background while the ocean laps against the rocks below, it's an unpretentious, relaxed environment sure to lull you into a tropical mood.

Spa
The brand new Spa Pavilion at Rockhouse is an organic, temple-like structure surrounded by lush gardens and compliments the cliff-edge treatment cabanas. The philosophy is a simple, holistic approach to well-being, health and happiness, with a natural Jamaican style. At the Rockhouse Spa, the focus is on relaxing and healing your system, allowing you to rejuvenate.

The Spa is guided by Linda Hall, a Caribbean-based international spa consultant, natural product and treatment designer, and instructor of holistic spa therapy philosophy. Linda's 25+ years of experience in the U.K. and throughout the Caribbean is imparted to certified massage technicians who receive constant training to keep them updated on the latest developments in techniques, equipment and products.

The Rockhouse Spa features a unique Treatment Menu developed exclusively for Rockhouse. According to Linda Hall, "In the same way the Rockhouse restaurant fuses the spices and foods that reflect the diverse history and people of Jamaica, the Spa fuses all the natural goodness and beauty of Jamaica, restoring peace and harmony to our guests". Rockhouse is the first Caribbean spa to feature a new line of completely natural spa products in its treatments. All the products are made locally using only natural ingredients indigenous to the Caribbean. The use of these products is in keeping with the Rockhouse philosophy of fusing all the natural goodness and beauty of the Caribbean to restore peace and harmony to their guests.

A favorite treatment is the Blue Mountain Coffee Scrub. This is a therapeutic, aromatic, synergy of a brew. Some of the curative ingredients in this amazing scrub include Blue Mountain coffee blended with orange, cinnamon, nutmeg, a hint of vanilla, and a good helping of brown sugar. It is an ideal detoxifying and exfoliating scrub.

Weddings
Rockhouse is proud to be considered a destination for such an important day. The goal is to combine an amazing experience with the ease of planning whether yours is a small, exquisite wedding ceremony, or an elaborate, weekend wedding filling the entire hotel with friends and family. The exceptional, experienced staff will create a special and memorable event for you. With the assistance of the Rockhouse on-site wedding coordinator, you can rest assured that all of the details and planning will be handled in a smooth and effortless manner.

At Rockhouse there is no "wedding chapel"; instead the bride and groom choose their own very special location. The most popular wedding settings are on the cliff edge, Oval Stone Deck at the end of the walkway in the pool area, or on the Lower Restaurant Deck, which is suspended over the water. For smaller weddings, additional options include the Bridge over Pristine Cove, the Point surrounded by water, an array of stone decks and porches located around the property overlooking the water, or the balcony of your guest room.
