An 18th-century palace was the inspiration for InterContinental Madrid, which is situated on one of the city's most famed thoroughfares. El Jardín del InterContinental is the hotel's signature fine-dining restaurant, while El Café is a little more casual. Bar 49 serves cocktails, wine, tapas and tea.

El Jardín del InterContinental captures the spirit of Madrid in an intimate courtyard setting. Chef Jose Luque prepares international and Mediterranean specialties such as Homemade Lentil Stew, Marmitako, and Cocido Madrileño, considered a national dish of Spain, followed by delectable desserts including Apple Compote and Caramel of Red Wine from Madrid. Live music and al fresco dining on the terrace are special night-time treats during the summer months.

Borrowing its name from our famous street address, Bar 49 attracts local businesspeople, shoppers, travellers and ladies looking for a comfy spot to take afternoon tea. Specialty cocktails, local wines, sushi, tapas and a fine selection of cigars are served amid the bar's chic environs. If you need a cocktail suggestion, you might try the Rossini, made with champagne and smashed strawberries
