Peace, tranquility, unique and individual are all words used to describe The Hempel, created by Anouska Hempel. A row of white Georgian houses with a private garden surrounded by trees, deeply contrasts the pure simplicity of the building within. The result is a vibrant, thought provoking environment inspired by the essence of timeless travel and the peace of the Orient.
The controlled use of natural materials is balanced with a playful elegance. Monolithic and monochromatic, a sense of strength pervades, yet the interiors are awash in ever changing light and shadow, hinting at other surprises: illuminated tap water, floating fireplaces, hanging walls and a towering atrium. The combination of these elements could easily be described as refrained exuberance. Individually designed rooms resonate this modern definition of luxury. Translucent, transcendence, transformation, I-Thai and H Bar makes the transition from cool and collected to the strange and exotic. The cuisine, modern Japanese, is served with flair, rounding out the Hempel experience.
