The Alfond Inn isn't your typical boutique hotel. Now open in Winter Park, Florida, The Alfond Inn is a luxury property with philanthropic roots. It's owned by Rollins College, a private coeducational liberal arts college in Winter Park, funded by a $12.5-million grant from the Harold Alfond Foundation. Any net income from the hotel will fund The Alfond Scholars program, which provides scholarships and financial aid for students. But just because The Alfond Inn benefits students doesn't mean it is a dorm. The luxury boutique hotel is built in the Spanish Mediterranean revival style, echoing the architecture of the college and surrounding Winter Park neighborhood. The 112-room property features rooms that are decorated in both modern and arts & crafts style with all the latest amenities such as complimentary high speed wireless Internet access, iPod docking stations and flat-screen television. The property offers a fitness center, elevated pool, spacious ballroom, meeting spaces and is filled with art from the Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art for Rollins College. The hotel's restaurant, Hamilton's Kitchen, is helmed by Chef J. Christopher Windus, a Winter Park native and former executive chef of Todd English's bluezoo at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel.
