A shortlist of finalists for the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize was announced this past July following judging sessions in Los Angeles, London, Geneva, Paris, and Milan. Winners of the coveted prize receive an endowment of approximately $38,000 USD to help establish the designer's brand, a two night stay at a Dorchester Collection hotel, and new to this year's contest, one-on-one mentoring from a selection of the judges. Applicants had to meet certain criteria and be evocative of the iconic hotel chain. The list of finalists includes: Barbara Casasola, Fyodor Golan, Emilia Wickstead, and Huishan Zhang. Previous winners include: Thomas Tait, Anndra Neen and Augustin Teboul. They have since been featured in The New York Times, Vogue.com, Harper's Bazaar UK, and L' Officiel.
“We are delighted to encourage and nurture young fashion talent - it’s been rewarding to follow the success of previous winners and finalists, knowing that the prize has helped them make that next step to global success and recognition," states Christopher Cowdray, chief executive officer of Dorchester Collection. "The judges have been highly impressed by the caliber of this year’s entries as the prize goes from strength to strength since its debut in 2010. The collections of the shortlisted finalists clearly echo the individuality and heritage of Dorchester Collection’s iconic hotels."
