Now you can bring a taste of the desert home with you, thanks to Loews Ventana Canyon’s Summer Desert Culinary Series. The program, led by the resort's chefs, teaches guests how to use ingredients found in many Tucson residents’ backyards. The classes will be offered May through August, with each class featuring a key ingredient and then recipes based around the item. The first class featured saguaro cactus fruit, a lecture on the plant and its fruit by Tohono O’odham Community Action, and was followed by a cooking class from Executive Chef Ken Harvey. Other desert inspired creations will focus on barrel cactus fruit, mesquite pods and prickly pear fruit.
