Hiraki Masakazu has recently been named Executive Chef at De Pisis of Il Palazzo at the BAUERs hotel in Venice, Italy. For the past decade, Mr. Masakazu has been Sous Chef at De Pisis, working in tandem with former Executive Chef Giovanni Ciresa. Chef Masakazu attended the popular Hattori Nutrition College in Tokyo and then gained work experience in several gourmet restaurants, including Gualtiero Marchesi 2 in Kobe in Japan, and Villa Crespi and La Fermata in Italy. However, according to Mr. Masakazu, “the years working with Chef Ciresa have been my most favorite culinary experience, giving me the opportunity to grow both as a professional and as a chef.” De Pisis offers intimate gourmet dining, either indoors or on its terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. The restaurant is renowned for exceptional Venetian and Mediterranean cuisine. Chef Masakazu hopes to fuse his own culture and identity with the traditions of the Italian kitchen creating inspired new dishes daily.
